T. Daniel Webb and Lori C. Scott (North Florida/Jacksonville) (Trucking) received a defense verdict in the case of George Rusty” King v. Kraft Foods Global, Inc., Duval County Circuit Court. Plaintiff driver alleged that his tractor-trailer rolled over due to a negligently blocked and braced container of coffee which shifted inside the trailer. The container was loaded by an employee of Kraft Foods Global, Inc. Plaintiff claimed injuries to his lower back, which necessitated a surgical laminectomy and projected fusion surgery in the future. Plaintiff also claimed his injuries caused him to abandon his lucrative railroad job. Plaintiff asked the jury for a range of damages between $1.9 to $3.1 million. The jury returned a defense verdict within 15 minutes.
